A Legal Icon Remember 6 years on
Abdul Ganiyu Oyesola Fawehinmi 'Gani' a human civil rights lawyer, publisher, philanthropist, social critic, politician nd a senior advocate of Nigeria transcends to heavenly divinity six years on...
Some may him call 'The Nation', others allude him 'A freedom fighter' while some others by popular demand call him Senior Advocate of the Masses.
Though it's six years on now since this legal luminary by both national and international standards transverse to heavenly glory but his footprints in the sands of time knows no bound. In a while, it is pertinent to note unambiguously that though mortals are bound to fall but not all are forgotten in a blink as some exist as long as human still breaths air.
A quick survey shows that Nigerians are not in a haste to forget such an enigmatic cum charismatic leader, a man who gave voice to the voiceless, a man who spoke gallantly when silent was assumed to be sacred, a man who acted when inaction was assumed a sign of 'play safe, a man who stood gallantly and stares every monstrous treachery in the face when injustice pervades the land, a man of inesteemable and unquantifiable valour, an advocate not just for the few but for all, a rare gem and an astute philanthropist. Oh Gani! Your achievements remains immeasurable but alas death remains a mystery.
As I sojourn on your profile, one cannot be continues to reels through your audacity towards bad governance, your clamour for an egalitarian society, your desire for a staunch judicial system, your fight for economic growth and development and above all your call 'FOR CHANGE and a MORAL CIVIL GOVERNMENT. Oh Gani! Your Clamour will forver remain monumental but then death remains a Challenge.
Seemingly, your fight didn't go unpunished even though you fought fora just cause, you suffered brutality from the high and mighty, you were constantly bruised by the brute force of the Military, you were revived so countless times from their ties, you endured discomfort to the comfort of the people as your life was always threatened but then such fatalities couldn't deter your belief nd positive cause to liberate the oppress. Oh Gani! Your fight remains our collective strength but then death remains a mysterious warrior.
Mankind as it were has no divine strength but alas if the hand of the clock can be whirled around, then no one can dispute your coming back to mother earth if not for anything but to continue your great work of humanitarian benevolence and philantrophic deligience as you were indeed one big shoulder to cry on when the sheeps are down. Hmm! The list are endless but then nature was compromised. Oh Gani! You were God sent but alas God knows as human can only analyse but the 'SUPREME' holds our fate.
Six years on you may have faded away from the surface of sight but then we take solace with the fact that some of your clamours, struggles, desires, goals and objectives will forever remain a prophecy for our 'Dear Nation' to act on.
