Nnamdi Kanu: A delusive fellow
Nnamdi Kanu- A disillusioned fellow: Permit to reminiscence the ever green and most impressive book titled"The gods are not to be blamed"by our own Ola Rotimi of both blessed and fond Memories. Surly, growing up those days kindle the much anticipated book as it teachings and moral celibate remains a vital fulcrum for both academic and societal brilliance. Both its dramatic, melodramatic start and sepulchral ends leaves us with the ultimate morals as it remains one of those few books where moral lessons connect reality checks. Indeed! For those whom the gods want to kill- They first make blind, deaf, dumb before they eventually run mad as by then, the gods would have been adjudged to have been innocent without blemish. Oh brother! The gods are truly wise.

Before setting the ball rolling, i plea for my readers indulgence as it is of great imperative that we do a short retrospect of a background analysis of what led to the said civil war even though there was nothing civil about a war that claims millions of lives.
Following the first coup on January 15 1966 by Major Gen. Patrick chukwuma Nzeogwu that saw the death of 13 political arrow heads in Nigeria including the then prime minister Alhaji Tafawa balewa, it was a time in the annals of the nations compendium when our independence was barely close to nascent when that ensued thus dislodging our democratic epistolary for a military intervention on January 17, 1966. A government so led by Major General Aguyi Ironsi together with his four military appointed governors that cardinals the four regions in Nigeria.
While Lt. Col Odumegwu ojukwu mapped the eastern region, Lt. Col Hassan usman katsina settled the north as Col Francis Adekunle Fajuyi handles the west together with colonel David Akpode Ejoor for Midwest. This gallant men in military clothing formed the supreme military council.
In the usual style of an eye for an eye, on July 26th 1966, a coup by some officers including Murtala Muhammed, Theophilus Danjuma and Martin Adamu ensued a coup that later developed into a counter coup. Though, this coup failed in the eastern sphere but succeeded in the abduction of both Major Aguyi ironsi and host Adekunle Fajuyi that later resulted to them been killed.
Following their death, the military council witnessed another enthronement as Col. Yakubu Gowon assume position as military head of state against the views of some selected few including Col. Ojukwu who had a different opinion. Well, one thing led to the other as this sudden turn of events led to face-off that later developed into an inferno.
Summarily, the September 26 1966 pogrom, the acclaimed breached of the Aburi accord on Jan 4th 1967 became a perfect seal on the coffin as Biafra against all odds was eventually announced on May 30, 1967 by Dim chkwuemeka ojukwu.
The Biafran war which became officially recognized on July 6th, 1967 was a war fought to counter the secession of biafra from Nigeria. Biafra which represented the nationalist aspirations of the igbo people felt they could no longer coexist with the Nigerian unity as the conflict which resulted from political, socioeconomic and ethnic tension saw the independent gift in 1960 handed to us by the British as been threatened in a piece meal.
The war which lasted for thirty eventful but painful months saw millions killed as historical accounts records a total of 3.5million person brutally murdered in cold blood as both the Nigerian military and the Biafra warlords got sucked in bloods. Civilians wasn't left out as innocent lives became a recipe for a war that was birthed in a hush.
The eventual starvation in 1968 that saw millions of people most especially kids, women and the vulnerable die of Mal- nourishment as a result of lack of both relieved materials and basic social amenities was in fact a gory sight to say the least. though, the biafra separatist had their own stunts in 1969 but then it couldn't stand the test of time as the Nigerian military eventual reprisal attack swept the biafrans to their feet hence their eventual surrender on January 15 1970. Well, for those who witness this very disastrous and distasteful epoch in the annals of the nations history would never wish for a repeat of such a national calamity that almost nailed our unity that was birthed in 1960. The aftermath could be better imagined than reality as both the innocents and the guilty suffered untold hardship. indeed! the idea of the no winner no vanquish became a subtle term to describe a war that saw the obvious been the most injured victims. Hmm! The story of a deluded quest.
45years on since we managed to extricate ourselves from a war that could have snowballed our unity into shackles and thrown our nation into political turmoil and social devastation yet we have continued to surge on in peace until recently when a disillusioned fellow tries to bring back a wound that no sane individual who witnessed the war would ever wish for her enemy.
Clearly without sounding equivocal, i chose not to mix words when i so describe the man Nnamdi kanu as a disillusioned fellow who fails to read clearly the handwriting on the wall, a man whose activities and social trappings connects that of a rebel, a man who has not only failed to settle for common sense but also a fellow whose cognitive psychology clearly depicts an emptiness to historical accounts.
Over the years, several revolutionist had taken history to the cleaners with their in-depth analysis of events before they leap, names like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King jnr. Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, John F Kennedy and even Ken Saro wiwa among others gave a good accounts of themselves when they fought a cause that eventually saw their names written in gold. These men understood the beautiful scenery of using the pen rather than the sword, they defined the concept of war achieved with wits rather than feisty cuffs, they knew the difference between threading the noble lines of bravery rather than crossing the thin line to shame as their case was never unjust.
The above defines axiomatically what been a revolutionist entails as it doesn't amount to scoring cheap popularity just to get attention, it negates all unholy vices and tendencies that contravenes the laws of the land and a flagrant misuse of ones inalienable right, it shuns dishonesty and irresponsibility as a real revolutionist disdains a cause that is unworthy and senseless.
Obviously, it will be a misfit to arrogate the lexicon 'revolutionist or better-still 'freedom fighter' to the said Nnamdi Kanu, who has turned himself into a self made hero and has succeeded in indoctrinating some men of myopic mindset and sensibilities into believing in his struggle that died many years ago. A struggle which i bet he wasn't born to witness what ensued during and after the war. Oh ignorance! Truly a disease worst than AIDS.
I cry for him not because i want to, i sympathize with him not because he has got my nod as i just wish the gods will removed this current blindfold of his that that eventually left him unreasonable to the call of wisdom. I pity his boldness, as such kind of bravery according to victims of historical accounts only leads to destruction and self annihilation. Oh truly!, a dog destined and designed to get lost in the bush no longer listens to the voice of his masters as all he sees are sprinkles of his illusion and delusive target.
Truly speaking those who the gods wants to kill-they first make blind, deaf, dumb before they eventually run mad to the dance of the SURUGEDE spirit when things eventually falls apart..............Nnamdi Kanu- really delusive to reality indeed.
