WHO set to treat zika as a global threat

Following the disturbing and very alarming outbreak of the Zika virus in some part of the America, most especially the southern America continent, the virus has since find its way into a over 20 countries with Brazil been the worst hit.

Subsequently, the world health organisation WHO has announced that this deadly virus could claim at least four million persons in the Americas if care is not taken.

WHO Director General, Dr. Margaret Chan, said that Zika had gone “from a mild threat to one of alarming proportions”.

The head of WHO also added that it has setup a Zika "Emergency team" adding that the response of the team on Monday, will enable the agency to know firmly if to start treating the virus case as that of a global threat other than an endemic specific to certain regions even though the virus is yet to spread it's wings to certain territories.

Though, the virus is yet to be detected in the united states, but a Brazilian woman who travelled to hawaii was announced to have given birth to a Zika infected baby.

Strident measures is been taken to ensure total compliance with the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) alerting all united states citizens most especially the pregnant ladies to avoid countries where this outbreak has occurred.

Zika virus which is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito, has obviously been linked to the cause of a particular disorder known as microcephaly.

A neurological disorder whereby victims are born with extremely small head which apparently leads to certain brain malfunction and lack of balance state.
