INEC releases time table for both Edo and Ondo Governorship polls

The independent national Electoral commission INEC has schedule sept 10 and Nov 26 as schedule dates for both Edo and Ondo gubernatorial elections.

In line with the provisions of the 1999 constitution as amended, the electoral body has issue out several dates of activities that will line in as follow up to the election in both states.

According to INEC,  all elections campaigns for the various political party in Edo state is slated to begin on June 12

The conduct of party primaries in Edo, including resolution of disputes arising from the primaries will take place from June 2 to June 4 2016

The commission announced that it will publish the official voters register for Edo on August 11 2016 as names of nominated candidates from their various political platforms will also be published.

The commission time table states the last day for all campaign activities in Edo as sept 8 while elections for the poll stands at 10

Similarly, Ondo state kicks off her own electoral activities and campaign on August 28 2016 for the various political parties while conduct of primaries including resolution of disputes arising from primaries will take place between Aug 19 and sept 18.

Publication of the official voters register stays at 27 Oct as names of various nominated candidate for the different political platforms will be released on same day.

The commission has however slated Nov 24 as last day for all forms of campaign activities and jingos while the election proper begins on the 26 Nov 2015.

However, in the event of a  run-off election, it will be held within 7days after the announcement of the election results.
