Libya human rights abuses -UN report

The Libya states have been in a continuous turmoil ever since the forceful and successful  dethronment of the Libyan war lord and ruler Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

The country which is obviously now fragmented with different rebel group and a militia backed parliament is currently been viewed according to a latest UN documented reports as a hub for various human rights abuses and untold torture.

The chaos situation have invariably given advantage to the dreaded Islamic state to gain a grip on the country.

According to the report, with the various rebel groups trying to gain control of the country, several human rights violations are been melted out on people on a daily basis which amounts to war crimes.

Victims of this unholy act includes detainees, journalist and various human rights activist who clamoured for a better state as scores of
persons have been reported to be killed.

The libyan judicial system has failed to delivered justice in fairness as this had made it worst for the oppressed to continue to suffer the intimidation of those believed to be behind this dastardly act as impunity has become the order of the day.

Rape victims and several acts of sexual violence knows no bound in a state been described as having rival parliaments been backed by armed militias.

"This is all happening in a climate of complete impunity where crimes are committed by actors including state and non state" says the report.

The plight of children, migrants, human rights defenders have been made compounded by a gruesome disconnect of the judicial system and justice delivery as a result of system failure and bastardization of the process.

The UN says with such comprehensive and detailed report, the international criminal court is expected to do a thorough investigations with onward prosecution of those found guilty in this act of barbarism.

They however call on protection measures and programmes for victims and witnesses as the case may seems.

The UN is also calling on its security council to consider strident economic sanction measures on Libya who has indeed cause untold sufferings matched with crimes against humanity
