Rev. King to die by hanging -Supreme court okays judgement

The supreme court has convicted one Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo alias Rev. King to die by hanging.

Delivering his judgement in a unanimous decision by a seven man panel led by justice Walter Onnoghen, the apex court upheld the judgement delivery first by justice Joseph oyewole of a lagos high court and that delivered by the appellate court in lagos.

Subsequently, in a lead judgement by justice sylvester Ngwuta, he stressed that apart from the fact that Rev. King's case lack merit which invariably affirm the decision of the appellate court, he likened the case thus  "the fact of the case should have been lifted from horror film".

The lagos state Attorney  General and commission for justice Mr Adeniji Kazzem alongside  Mrs Idowu Alakija of the lagos state directorate of public prosecution and other senior counsel  who appeared before the apex court, urged the court to dismiss the appeal by Mr king and upheld the judgement of the lower court.

It will be recalled that Following his conviction and onward death sentence  by hanging in 2007 for the alleged murder of one Mrs Ann Uzoh, he was formerly arraigned  on september 26 2006 for a six count charge of attempted murder and murder.

The arraignment which was at the jurisdiction of the lagos state directorate of public prosecution argued that the defendant poured petrol on the diseased and five others suspected to be members of his church. Trial judge Justice Joseph oyewole maintained that they where sufficient facts linking the accused and the commission of the act hence his subsequent sentence to 20years imprisonment for attempted murder and onward death by hanging for the murder of Mrs Uzor.

Not convinced with this action, the self acclaimed miracle pastor and spiritual ruler cum General overseer of the christian praying assembly Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo a.k.a Rev. King as he is fondly called dashed to the federal division of the appeal court in lagos urging same to quash the decision of justice oyewole judgement.

After several arguments from the self acclaimed spiritual ruler and his defence counsel, the appellate court in his wisdom upheld the judgement of the lower court in a lead judgement by justice fatimo akinbami  threw the case of Mr king on the ground of its locus standi been  out of context.

Disappointed by this judgement, Mr king and his defence counsel ran to the apex court seeking for a life saver or better still a life line but alas, it was just too little too late as the synergy flew in same heat wave casting same spell on the self acclaimed spiritual ruler and self styled messiah as he chose to call self.
