The Megacity and her recent disturbance

Lagos no doubt is the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria. With a population of over 10 million persons (though since 2006 census), it has become un arguably the most economically vibrant state in Nigeria housing too many urban centres and industrial locations.

Lagos is located in southwestern Nigeria, on the north and east, it is geographically bounded  by Ogun state, in the west, it's shares boundaries with the republic of Benin. Behind it southern borders lies the Atlantic ocean.

Though, it is recorded as one of the smallest state in Nigeria,  it  plays host and home to different persons both from the local and international scene. In 1976, it was once the capital base of the seat of power in Nigeria before it was later moved to Abuja( present capital) in 1991.

Span with lagoons and creeks, it is on record that 22% of its 3,577kmsquare land mass are surrounded by water.

However, irrespective of its small nature, lagos remains the "wonderland" acclaimed to be the choice home to all those who seeks greener pastures when the going get tough.

The sojourn to lagos according to mythical belief is a farewell to financial  dizziness and a welcome to the El- Dorado  of financial stability. Hmm! How nice it seems on face value.

Subsequently, the recent happening that has engulf this city of pride
seems better imagined than been real. The once peaceful commercial nerve centre has been overtaken by men of the of both the underworld and underwater. The city has witnessed certain dabacle which ought not to be befitting of a state pride to be "The centre of excellence"

Recently, armed gunmen launched an attacked at the Babington Macauley seminary Junior secondary school in ikorodu which resulted in the abduction of three female student from their study classroom as they prepare for their exams.

The shock of this gory incident has left many wondering what could have gone wrong with the security details in that axis most especially as the state government is currently doing her best to securing  the lives and property of her people in every nook and cranny.

These abducted girl's are yet to to return as it has been 5days counting now with no positive light on sight. Hmm! Lagos, what's wrong!

Just when some persons are trying to come to terms with that saddened events, another shocker broke out yesterday in mile 12- an extention of ikorodu road. It was a scene not too many would want to reckon with as miscreants went on rampage burning cars and destroying properties worth millions as scores of persons were reported dead.

The Mayhem whose reason boils down to what could have been an avoidable discord between two groups whose conduct should be called to questioning resulted into some sort of a communal clash needless to say.  Hmm! What is lagos turning into.

This to a large extent de bases the sanctity of moral norms, culture and
values once held in high esteem. This to a larger scale disregards the moral ethical conduct once practised in a state that preached peace, progress and unity.

The issue though has been set for state control, but then, it didn't happen without the restrictions of movement and the shutting down of business activities around that axis. Needles to say, but then, where was the security agencies before the problem broke out like wide fire?
Must it be allowed to get out of hand before we act? Who are those responsible for this sudden creation of a bad image for the state.

Lagos has never been this mismanaged. Who is to blame? , who must be held responsible? And who are the propellers of this gory and unfortunate events. This are some of the questions requiring very pertinent answers as we look on Mr Governor to stand up against this
unholy trend and return lagos once again to her pride of place. #Eko ni baje
