Gov. Mimiko swears in new council chairmen

The newly elected chairmen who was sworn into office by the Governor of the state were urged to be good ambassadors of themselves as they step into their newly elected position in discharge of their duties and functions as chairmen. The Governor who enjoined the newly elected members to abide by the rule of law in discharging their duties also charged them to remain guided by the workings of their office.

speaking at the inaugural swearing-in ceremony at the international culture and event centers located at the state capital Akure, Gov. Olusegun Mimiko  stressed the need for the newly elected officers to remain accountable, transparent to her people while noting that been exemplary remains hallmark of good leadership.

Gov. Mimiko who noted that he decided to conduct this polls due to the standing fact the existing local government administration he met in 2009 didn't conform to the with the rule of law, hence the dissolution stressed the need for greater institution. The Governor also stressed the need for the newly elected chairmen in creating an enabling working relationship between the Councillors and traditional rulers as they remain a formidable force in the strengthening of grassroots development as it involves the people.

The events which was largely graced at the state capital in Akure saw top government officials from the state legislature, members of cabinets in the state executives, traditional rulers, relatives, friends and well wishers of the newly elected chairmen in attendance.

Similarly, in a likely fashion, the chairman of the ondo state independent electoral commission (ODIEC) Prof. Olugbenge Ige had earlier presented to all 18 elected chairmen at the commission's office in Akure a certificate of return that will see them through the reels of their official tenure stay in office.
