Ondo State elect new councils chairmen

The ondo state independent electoral commission (ODIEC) yesterday conducted the state council polls into the 203 wards across the 18 local government areas as citizens came all out to vote for their choice candidates into the chairmanship and councillorship seats in the state. The election which was tightly contested spans among 15 political platforms in the state as voters exercise their franchise in electing those who will represent them at the grassroots level.

The elections which witnessed a huge turnouts in major councils areas in the state however saw a low outcome in some other councils areas as interested and eligible voters queue up to take turns with the electoral card reader. In Akoko North east, the turnout was huge as accreditation started early enough for all voters to get their name on the accreditation register as quick as possible, the same was also the case at Ose local government area. Similarly, in Ore, Ajue, Asewele, Omifon and some other communities, voting exercise as well as accreditation process began as early as 8:00am while in some other part of the council area, accreditation started a little late.

Speaking after casting his vote at Ifesowapo ward 2, unit 008 in Akannu Akoko North East, the deputy governor of the state Alhaji  Abdulazeez Oluboyo commended the process for its free, fair and credible manner in which it was conducted. He however affirm the fact that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party will outclass others at the polls while commending the people for their peaceful conduct and orderly manner during the voting process.

The deputy governor of the state also reiterated the fact that such conduct was as a result of the giant strides by the Governor of the state in making sure that ondo state rode among the best in terms of developmental and structural strides happening in the state. Alhaji Oluboyo commended Governor Mimiko for contributing so much in the state and for ensuring a hitche free electoral process devoid of rancor.

Similarly, the ondo state commissioner for the independent electoral commission Prof. Olugbenga Ige thanked the good people of Ondo State for coming all out to cast their votes in peace without compromising the process. Prof. Ige also stressed the fact that the election was first to be reckon with noting the pace, way and manner in which it was conducted devoid of violence, thuggery and irregularities which has always been the fears of most voters during elections.
