Prisons Boss denies assault claims

Following the reactions that greeted the supposed incident that occurred between a Nigerian MP and the comptroller General of the Nigerian Prisons, the Nigerian National Assembly issued a summoned of appearance to the Prison boss Mr Peter Ekpendu together with various heads of units for a better understanding of what transpired.

Reacting to the issue on the floor of the house, the house minority leader Hon. Leo Ogor expressed a total dissatisfaction calling the matter an embarrassment not only to the National Assembly but also a breach of the house rules.

According to the reports, an aide attached to the Prisons Boss convoy was said to have slapped Mrs. Joan  Mrakpor for allegedly getting on the way of the prisons boss convoy during his way out of the complex of the National Assembly on Wednesday last week.

However, in a swift reaction to the claims of assault, Mr Ekpendu who released a press statements countered the claim of assault, according to him, though, it was true that he was at the National Assembly complex that Wednesday to attend to some official functions, but he couldn't have done what he is now accused of. Mr Ekpendu who clarifies that neither his aide nor any other personnel attached to him was involve an any form of uproar.

Mr Ekpendu who addressed himself as a peace loving individual reiterated the fact that he was for the Law and will never do anything contrary to that which is against the well-being of the law noting that he is meek and humble to every Nigerian.
