Nigeria Olympic team tackles Germany today

Following their scintillating performance against the Danes of Denmark at the itaipava Arena Fonte Nova  in Salvador, the Nigerian dream V1 Olympics football team will today lock horns with the Germans whose walk to the semi-finals hasn't  been anything more than the best going by their four goal thrashing of the Portuguese side in the quarter-finals.

For the Nigeria team, their advancement have indeed prove many book makers wrong who prior to the tournament, gave them little or no chance of qualification going by the seemingly controversy that marred their eventual coming to Rio. The dream team V1 however stunned soccer pundits when they stylishly defeated Japan in a massive nine goal thriller game that ended 5-4. They however defeated Sweden to a lone goal before they eventually  succumb to what many felt was a reaction to nature's call as they lost to Colombia by 2-0. The Samson Siasia lads however went the extra mile against all odds in the quarter-finals, as they thrilled fans at the Fonte Nova Arena to a candid 2-0 victory against game favourite Denmark who prior to the quarter-finals have earlier thrashed the team 6-2 at the SUWON tournament in South Korea.

For many, the story of today's encounter at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo will be that of the biblical David against Goliath as the odds favours a thunderous German side whose goal thrilling sense sent packing one of the tournament favourite team Portugal.

For the Nigeria Olympic team, their advantage going into this game will be their pre-rio training in Atlanta, where they tapped the good spirit of the "96 Atlanta golden team who earned Gold at the Atlanta"96 Olympics USA. http://www.completesportsnigeria.com/home-

Be that as it may, only 90 or better still 120 minutes will tell who eventually survives this herculean task as the finals beckons.
