Trump challenges FBI Comey
As events in the white house continue to prowl just like an epic thriller typical of an American box office drama, one need not a soothsayer to conclude the obvious. No doubt, the Trump white house ever since inception has been fraught with series of scandals, yet, the occupier of the west wing seems unshaken as he continues his show political greenness in absolutism.
From the firing of former NSA boss Michael Flynn down to the abrupt dismissal of FBI boss James Comey, the white house has long refused to remain white both in honesty, integrity and patriotism.
The FBI bureau till date remains of the most revered Agency in the U.S soil, and any such attempt to compromise his justice department will be tantamount to biting one's finger. Be it the 45th president of the United States, be it the Secretary of States or anybody else, the resultant effect might be too grievous to handle.
"He was a good guy, and I hope you can let this go"
The above statement cannot be far from what the dismissed FBI director had to say just recently according to a NY reporter. Comey had immediately kept a memo shortly after a meeting with the president far back in February.
According to the kept memo, Comey revealed that president Trump had secretly pressed his decision in influencing a federal investigation. Trump who insisted that the FBI director lets go of all investigation involving his former National Security Adviser on account of "a waiver", also pressed his intention in seeing that the FBI director go subtle on the supposed Russian link to the U.S election.
A shocked Comey immediately took a quick memo which he scribbled out just after his conversation with the president. I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go,” Mr. Trump told Mr Comey, according to the memo. “He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”
While the president henchmen alongside white house surrogates continue to rebuff Comey's recent revealation, both democrats and republicans remain keen on this issue which so many claims could instigate a quick call for an impeachment.
Similarly, in a recent press conference alongside the president of Colombia in Washington, Donald Trump when asked by a reporter about his complicit conversation with the sacked FBI boss, Mr. Trump quickly replied that he had no such conversation with the former FBI chief as speculated.
In lieu to the foregoing, the US congress has instituted a special prosecutor team for the probe of the alleged Russian interference. This will be led by a former FBI director Robert Mueller.
In the face of rising pressure from Congress, the US justice department named Robert Mueller, the former FBI director, on Wednesday as special counsel to investigate alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US election and possible collusion between Trump's campaign and Russia.
