Following the schedule date for conducting the ondo local government election polls into the various 18 council areas, the state opposition party (APC) has vowed to since boycott the election if the ondo state independent electoral commission (ODIEC) goes on to conduct the polls come April 23, 2016.

The state All Progressive Congress who headed to court for to seek an injunction stopping the ondo state independent electoral commission from conducting the council's poll got a backlash yesterday as an a federal appeal court sitting Akure struck out their file application on the basis of court jurisducial competence.

Presiding judge, Justice  Folashade Olubanjo not only cited examples of several supreme court cases, but also extracted relevant quotes of the Nigeria constitution while stating that the federal high court does not have jurisdiction to decide on the conduct of local government polls.

The ruling has however given more credence  to the ondo state independent electoral commission headed by Prof. Olugbenga Ige to go ahead and conduct the polls as schedule.

Similarly, the commission has employed over 6000 ad-hoc staff as participant during the elections with their specific duties clearly categorized as presiding officers, supervisory presiding officers among other salient positions.
