Hurricane Matthew claims first death


Following the deadly hurricane that has engulf certain parts of the United States and its immediate consequence of severe flood, a 50-year-old woman suffered a cardiac arrest and died overnight in Florida, the St. Lucie Emergency Operations Center said. Officials are calling her death storm-related because the St. Lucie Fire District had to stop responding to emergency calls due to Hurricane Matthew's fierce winds.


According to Hurricane weather forecasters, the storm may come out harder on certain cities as the day comes by. They have however advised resident of a possible evacuation to a higher ground for the protection of their lives and imminent safety.


According to president Obama while giving out an address from the oval office, he confirmed the imminent danger of those still leaving in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and some other prone areas most especially those living in Jacksonville as officials are particularly concerned about this area because it is in the hurricane's direct path. . The president advised resident to listen carefully to what local authorities are saying in other to secure their safety. "You should be paying attention ... This thing is going to keep on moving north ... Pay attention to what your local officials are telling you.".

Though, its quite unclear the possible impact of what the damages is going to be, but according to president Obama, this is no doubt a scene that will be continually be monitored as the day passes by in ascertaining its impacts.   "we are still on the front end" of Hurricane Matthew. He said that it won't be clear for "three, four, five days, what the ultimate impacts will be."

According to the National Hurricane Center, Matthew is now only 35 miles east-northeast of Daytona Beach and 95 miles southeast of Jacksonville.

It's still hurling 120-mph winds and is now moving north-northwest at 12 mph.

Similarly, in related reports by CNN, about 20 people are trapped at a bed and breakfast in St. Augustine, Florida. They told Russell Colburn of Action News Jax there are kids inside, too.
