youngster Macron stages Le Pen

The french presidential election got to its climax Sunday 23rd April with the emergence of just two candidate fit enough for the run-off election scheduled for May 7. The first round of the election which got many at the edge saw an anti-climatic ending for front line far right leader Marine Le Pen who many thought might just pull a Brexit vote.

The first round of the french presidential election got so many talking, not just because it produces two outsider for the sole contention for the presidency, but because its presenting for the first time an historic youngster who many barely gave a chance to prove the much desired point. A socialite by association but a centrist by policy. Emmanuel Macron who entered the presidential race as both a green horn and a lame duck, got the attention of many including all of pro-euro adherents, when he pulled a margin vote of 23.8% to lead fierce nationale front leader Marine Le Pen whose umbrella base of support prior to the first round of Sunday election was nothing but extremely overwhelming, given the margin with which she won her party open primaries cum the nations opinion polls.

Le Pen who is considered a fierce adherent of anti-EU had campaigned under the populist jurisdiction of France protectionism and also that of lesser ties with NATO, while aligning self with the position of Russia, Brussels and the likes. According to Marine Le Pen, France will fair well even better if they restrict not just the nations migration laws, but also clamp down on their immigration policy.

With the culminating rise of populism in Europe, the Le Pen wave and momentum rave might just become another feather added to the already rampaging extreme populist idea that has now become a fulcrum for victory in any election. From the land of commonsense to the free world, this idea has continued to grow in leaps and bounds thereby threatening the global strength of liberalization and constitutional democratization.

How well will France fair, how well will Europe strive and how far can the globe survive if Marine Le Pen wins the forthcoming run-off election given the rave of populism that has now become the winning yardstick in every front line decider.

However, with a sharp swing of the pendulum, a shocking Macron win will no doubt create a better world where democratization, liberalization of policy, softening stance on refugee plight, free trade and a more stronger EU will strive in shaping the world harmonization.

As the world turns to France for the rescue, all eyes will be on Emmanuel Macron as they hope and wish he completes the lead vote which he now has as an added advantage towards an euro septic Le Pen whose visualization of stronger a world limits commonsense.

Polls have suggested Macron should top right-winger Le Pen in a two-candidate race by a comfortable margin. Conservative Les Républicains candidate François Fillon — who failed to make the runoff as he finished third in Sunday’s election with 19.9% of the vote — said he will vote for Macron because he has “no other choice than vote against the extreme right.
