PDP won all 18 seats as ondo elects new chairmen

The Peoples Democratic Party in ondo state has swept the all 18 councils polls that was conducted on Saturday by the independent electoral commission.  The elections which saw over 15 candidates from various political platforms contesting the elections however was concluded with the PDP  claiming a landslide of virtually all the available seats.

Announcing the results of the polls in Akure, the chairman of the ondo state independent electoral commission (ODIEC) Prof. Olugbenga Ige announced the PDP winning all 18 chairmanship seats while out of the 203 councillorship seats, the PDP won 202 while the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) won the remaining one.

Prof. Olugbenga who commended the voters for their conducts during the elections however praised the process for such a hitch free and credible elections.

Meanwhile, the ondo state deputy governor Alhaji Oluboyo Abdulazeeh also commended the process saying that its a clear indication of the governor's giant strides in the state towards her citizens. Alhaji Oluboyo also commended the state electoral commission for their bravery and strength in conducting such an impressive polls devoid of compromise.

Sequel to the election, major opposition party of the state the All Progressive Congress headed to court to secure a refraining order stopping the elections but failed in her bid as a  federal high court sitting in Akure  struck out the application stating the inability of the court to give jurisdiction on such matters.

The APC however still went on to boycotting the Saturdays polls having failed in her attempt to stop the General process through the court.
