APC wins Edo Guber Polls in Nigeria
Following the keenly contested gubernatorial poll which was held 28th September 2016 in Edo state,southern Nigeria, the electoral organ responsible for all electioneering process in Nigeria have declared the candidate of the incumbent party APC winner of the polls. This was announced shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC collated all 18 local government areas polls result which the incumbent party candidate Godwin Obaseki won 13 out of those LGA leaving the opposition candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party John Ize-Iyamu with just five win.
According to the commission, the All Progressive Congress Candidate pulled a total number of 319, 483 votes to defeat her PDP rival who garnered a total of 253, 173 votes to come second. The collation which started at 12:00hrs at the INEC collation center got concluded at 4:00hrs today before final results were announced by the state returning officer.
The target of each candidate was to win a maximum number of votes from Oredo LGA, Egor LGA together with Ikpoba/Okha LGA with a combine voters capacity of 800,000.
Edo south has seven of the 18 LGA, and home to about 57.4% of the population of the state.
There are 192 wards and 2, 627 polling units in Edo state.
The APC won Akoko Edo LGA, Ikpoba Okha LGA, Etsako West LGA, Etsako East LGA, Etsako Central LGA, Owan East LGA, Ovia North LGA, Oredo LGA, Egor LGA, Igueben LGA, Owan West LGA and Uhunwomnde LGA.
The PDP won Esan North Central, Esan West, Esan South East, Esan North East together with Orhionwonm LGA.
