Three Lions coast to victory over Malta

The English national team today had a comfortable 2-goal against Malta in a world cup qualifier. The three Lions who started the game in high note made sure they took the pace from start to end of 90 minutes as the Gareth Southgate side brought in more confidence to show despite loosing their Manager in a very short speel with the team.

The team's first goal came just 29minutes into play as Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge's clever header from Jordan Henderson's cross opened the scoring. The three Lions who immediately fired home a second came 3minutes after as Dele Alli scrambled home a second before half-time.

Though, it could have been more, but the heroic display of  Malta's heroic goalkeeper Andrew Hogg stood between England and further goals, making fine saves from Alli, Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott and debutant Jesse Lingard as the hosts made it maximum points from two qualifiers.

With Southgate already coasting home to earning a permanent managerial job after the exit of Sam Allardyce, his next test comes at Wembley on 11 November with Scotland as their next visitor. That is shaping up as the game that could make or break Southgate's hopes of landing the England job on a full-time basis.
