Barely after ten months of his lost bid to become re-elected as the president of Nigeria, and his quick surrender to defeat, f ormer president Good luck Jonathan has broken his silence in details why he indeed conceded defeat to the eventual winner of the March 28 2015 presidential election.  “I was actually in that valley on March 28, 2015”, he said. WHO set to treat zika as a global threat

Following the disturbing and very alarming outbreak of the Zika virus in some part of the America, most especially the southern America continent, the virus has since find its way into a over 20 countries with Brazil been the worst hit.  Subsequently, the world health organisation WHO has announced that this deadly virus could claim at least four million persons in the Americas if care is not taken.  WHO Director General, Dr. Margaret Chan, said that Zika had gone “from a mild threat to one of alarming proportions”. Military Set To Open Up Damaturu-Biu Road In Yobe

The Nigerian military says it is ready to allow movement of people, goods and services along the 130 Km Damaturu-Biu road in Yobe State This was disclosed to reporters on Thursday after a tour of some portions of the road by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigeria Army, Brigadier General Mohammed Aliyu. Brigadier General Aliyu explained that opening up commercial activities along the road was significant to the current military operation in Nigeria’s northeast geopolitical zone, considering the strategic nature of the road and its economic significance. During the tour, the GOC had a stopover at Katarko village, some 22KM from Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, to inspect a major bridge which was destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgents to prevent military access to the areas under their control. The  charges  relate to the country's civil conflict that erupted after Mr Gbagbo lost elections in 2010. Prosecutors accuse him of orchestrating a "campaign of violence". Mr Gbagbo, 70, and ex-militia leader Charles Ble Goude, 44, deny murder, rape, attempted murder and persecution. The trial at the court in The Hague, in the Netherlands, could last three or four years. Inside the courtroom, Laurent Gbagbo seemed unsteady, leaning on his desk as he pleaded not guilty. His co-accused, Charles Ble Goude, gave a more defiant response, telling the judges: "I do not recognise the charges." Prosecutors said Mr Ble Goude had acted as a spin doctor. Following the dismal news that filtered the lips of many most especially in Nigeria, Kenya and some other parts of the African continent acknowledging the story of men been ordered to marry two wives or face severe punishment from the Erirtean government, the authorities in Eritrea  has not only debunked this rumour, but has also described it as fabricated and fallacious. News Alert: Supreme Affirms the election of Governor Nyesom wike of rivers state state as the duly elected governor of the state.  Though, as it is a unanimous judgement by a seven man panel of the apex court, the reason for the judgement is to be listed on 12th Febuary. Given the ruling on Wednesday, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun set aside the later judgement as delivered by the Appeal court which nullified the election of the governor stating non-compliance of electoral rules. It will be recall that the court of Appeal had on December 16 , 2015 struck out the application of Mr wike seeking a dismissal of the judgement of the rivers state election petition tribunal which apparently sacked Mr wike as governor of the state stating a total non compliance with the guidelines and provisions of the independent national electoral commission INEC. Chibok: Deadly suicide blasts hit north-eastern Nigerian town

According to reports, the suicide bombers has hit the north eastern part of Nigeria, Borno, chibok town to be precise on a market day, 10persons have been reported dead.  At least three attackers were involved, some of them female, witnesses said. More than 30 people were injured. Details are scant and it is not yet known who was behind the attack. "The casualty toll is not conclusive but so far at least 10 people have been confirmed dead and over 30 injured," Ayuba Chibok told the AFP news agency. But suspicion is likely to fall on militants from the Boko Haram Islamist group, who abducted more than 200 schoolgirls from Chibok in 2014. One of the attackers struck at a security checkpoint, while another managed to reach the busy market. A third was identified by residents before detonating explosives close to the market, the reports said. Trial of the embattled National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh continued, yesterday, as a senior official from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, Mr. Baleh Ndam, told the Federal High Court, Abuja, that Metuh’s firm, Destra Investments Limited, was among 78 beneficiaries of the alleged fraudulent payment from the ONSA without executing any contract. Ndam, who testified before trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, added that the N400million electronically wired into the defendant’s company account amounted to alleged fraudulent payment for a contract not awarded. Ndam is the third witness the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has brought to testify against the PDP spokesman, who alongside his firm, is answering to a seven-count criminal charge bordering on alleged criminal breach of trust and illegal diversion of public funds to the tune of N400 million. Police discover three decomposing corpses, human skull in Enugu

The Police in Enugu said they had discovered three decomposing corpses and a human skull in a bush at Ugwuaji in Enugu South Local Government Area of the state. The Spokesperson of the state Police Command, DSP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed this on Tuesday in an interview with NAN in Enugu. Amaraizu said that the command discovered the corpses and the human skull on Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. following a tip-off. He said the command would do everything possible to fish out the identities of the corpses and the cause of the death. The police spokesperson warned that the command would not tolerate unlawful acts that would disrupt the existing relative peace in the state. He urged residents of the state to be security conscious and report to the police any suspicious movements or acts in their localities.

Fatal stabbing at swedish asylum home

Swedish prime minister Stefan Lofvan in his reaction to the death of a 22year old young employee at the centre for young asylum seekers, expressed his dissatisfaction and sadness at the very awkward  events. Stefan who visited the centre for unaccompanied migrants in moindal near Gothenburg after the incident, described the situation as a "terrible crime". Similarly, 15year old asylum seeker who committed the crime has been arrested for stabbing 22year old employee Alexandra Mezher who unfortunately died in a hospital due to her injuries. Although there has been no official report of the number of casualties involved, residents of the area say that about 15 people might have been killed.
