Why the Nigeria Military Must disregard the recent purported video by the Boko Haram Militants sect group

On his inauguration ceremony, the president made it emphatically clear that his administration will as a matter of urgency tackle the fight against ins urgency to its logical conclusion hence the pronouncement of the immediate relocation of the Nigeria Military base from Abuja to maiduguri (the heart of the war). Though, not too many may have expected such a quick response and very rapid approach, but then, the president in keeping to his too many campaign promises decided to land the first surprise on that very auspicious events even before he steps comfortably into the Aso Villa. The Nigeria Military no doubt has achieved a great success towards the fight against ins urgency as they have greatly recorded a huge feet in their unrelenting approach in keeping up with the administrational goals and onward objectives in eradicating the dreaded Boko haram sect group. This Islamic fundamentalist has been largely responsible for the Wanton killings of hundreds of innocent lives and renderi...

Why a state of Emergency is needed in Rivers State

The recent electoral show of shame that was witnessed at the just concluded (inconclusive) rerun election into the rivers state house of Assembly and National House of Assembly respectively no doubt has once again eclipsed to the fore the brazen disregard of absolute law and order in that state.    Clearly, it has shown in apparent terms the gross state of political irresponsibility and very myopic sense of the power players in that state. I bet to defer if the political class in rivers state barely understand the tits and tact of not only conducting a free, fair and credible elections, but also the wits needed in conducting themselves in absolute decorum to the admiration of global best practitioners.   Hmm! What a loss of moral norms indeed. Rivers state no doubt has always been acclaimed to be very volatile when it comes to condu...

Election bloodbath- Is this really necessary

In civilised climes where the tenets of democracy is held to the high heavens, elections are meant to be peaceful, not violent, it is meant to be free, fair and credible devoid of fraudulent malpractices and sharp practices as the case maybe. However, there is absolutely no doubt that in certain democracy, electioneering skirmishes are most likely very unavoidable either because of its process or due to its democratic naivety as the facts suggest. Subsequently, even in the face of these seemingly lacuna and pitfalls, the question still remains thus; Election bloodbath- Is it really necessary? Permit me heresy to imprint this fine lines of martin luther king jnr when he wrote thus; " if we succumb to the temptation of using violence in the struggle, unborn generation will be the recipient of a long and desolate night of bitterness, and our chief legacy to the future will be an endless reign of meaningless chaos". Obviously, the aforementioned statement is not only crystal...

is the former Chief of Defence Staff really remanded in jail

Integrity according to some school of thought remains the ability of doing that which evades irresponsibility. To this school of logical reasoning, they holds the view that a being should think very meticulously before he leaps in all ramifications. Though, no man is infallible, but according to myth and believe, it's the absolute responsibility of the homo saipen to use his God giving free will in accordance to his chose. Similarly, if that is taken, then, it leaves man with two conclusions viz; rationality and irrationally. Julius Ceasar wasn't a saint, but then, his earthly sojourn within the am bits of  both space and time was enough for him to have written his name in the imprint of sands and time.  Sure! It is never out of place for some to argue on the sole fact that no man is perfect. Well, as sound as this argument may seems, one thing is very clear and that is - if a saintly position is given to any individual, two things becomes a requirements viz; it is either...

Why we must blame the Bayelsa state government for Ese Oruru's ordeal

No doubt, the Ese Oruru's saga may have been amicably taken care off by the various parties involved, but alas, there are pertinent issues that needs to be addressed before it finally goes to rest if we must prevent future occurrence of such monstrous act. Yes! It took the generality of the masses to get Ese out of the den of her abductors treachery, but then, there are certain grey areas that sure needs both  a cursory and closer  look as we celebrate her eventual return and reunion with her families. Now, the grouse of the matter is not the fact that Ese was kidnapped at the first instance, the grouse remains the sole fact that certain authority who should have acted swiftly didn't act when the crime was committed. Obviously, the crime was let to happen by the various state agencies who ought to take absolute responsibility of such situation either by preventing it or by acting responsibly when such act is committed. Ese Oruru was abducted from her Bayelsa home where ...

The place of the girl child in the society

A society who looses the very essence of the girl child no doubt is heading for the rocks. Their place just like the role of family in the building of a society plays a tremendous role in the overall objective of both the micro and macro setup. In civilised climes, where the moral and inalienable rights of every individual is treated as been sacrosanct, it is an absolutism that gender balance remains a top most priority irrespective of status, strata, colour, race or creed. Permit me heresy to  savour a quick indicator  which high lightens the awesome peculiarity of the girl child  " A girl is a whole by all means, not a toy by every means, underneath her air and inner make-up is emblazon with a sign that reads -Handle with care. If truth be told, several  societal norms and outdated culture has not only relegated the girl child to the background, but has also help in the fast erosion of her core values. It's such a distasteful irony that the society as it w...

Ocholi it was learnt was involved in a motorcade accident en route Kaduna to Abuja had also on board with him his wife, son, aide-de camp along side driver who obviously piloted this journey. The accident which involve his vehicle; a prado SUV and another lexus SUV also left his wife his coma while his son dead as his driver is also in a critical condition. Ocholi until this unfortunate events was a minister for state for labour and productivity who worked diligently as per his designation to ensure the change mantra preached by the government becomes a success. The Megacity and her recent disturbance

Lagos no doubt is the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria. With a population of over 10 million persons (though since 2006 census), it has become un arguably the most economically vibrant state in Nigeria housing too many urban centres and industrial locations.  Lagos is located in southwestern Nigeria, on the north and east, it is geographically bounded  by Ogun state, in the west, it's shares boundaries with the republic of Benin. Behind it southern borders lies the Atlantic ocean. Though, it is recorded as one of the smallest state in Nigeria,  it  plays host and home to different persons both from the local and international scene. In 1976, it was once the capital base of the seat of power in Nigeria before it was later moved to Abuja( present capital) in 1991. Span with lagoons and creeks, it is on record that 22% of its 3,577kmsquare land mass are surrounded by water. However, irrespective of its small nature, lagos remains the "wonderland" acclaimed to...

The battle for the white house

The recent past elections has showed that the American people tends to analyse every aspirant according to their policy statement involving not only the united states but also it's foreign policy towards sovereign states most especially her allies. In the November 2008 General elections, the electorates opted for a Democrats as against an incumbent Republican who had all the wherewithal to have convinced the electorates towards believing in her submissions. Though, that couldn't be realised because Americans needed a more vibrating foreign policy especially one that will not plunge the nation into an unnecessary wastage of funds. However, when the ball was formally set on a scaling turf, the resultant effect became a president Barrack Obama who would rather be reasonable on certain foreign policy rather than service an unnecessary cause which brings little or nothing to the economic outputs of the united states. Apart from his policy analytical statement which key into t...

The American Super Tuesday

The American super Tuesday GOP election may have come and gone, but it  has no doubt unavoidably set the ball rolling for most of the candidates as they now know their fate, strength and stronghold among other deliveries. For the Republicans, it seems to be more of a coaster ride for real Donald trump as he Front-lines the election result while the rest of the candidates trails behind the billionaire cum politician. Going by the republicans GOP debate at the st moores school of music in the university of houston, not many would have anticipated such a big win for real Donald trump as he was constantly given the bashed by Rubio Marcio and Ted Cruz who believes trump political antecedent is not befitting enough to gain the votes of the American people. Cruz labelled trump has been anti-republican in his policy statement and fact while claiming that his all his opinions are similar to thesame ideology and concept shared by the frontliner of the Democratic candidate Hilary clinton...

Abduction Again! As three female student got whisked away from their school

Just when Nigerians are trying to come to terms with the kidnapped of the abducted over 200chibok schoolgirls from their dormitories on April, 14th 2014, another terrifying shock has hit yet another school dormitory. Though, not on a larger scale as that which took place in chibok, north-eastern Nigeria, but alas, the resemblance of the operation seems like an obvious rehearsal even to the blind. Monday night  Feb. 29th 2016 though might seems like every other nightfall, but alas, this particular nightfall wasn't that cosy for both the staff and students of Babington Mauculey Junior seminary school as armed gunmen launched an attack on them whisking away three female students from the school. The school which was founded in 1996 by Joseph Abiodun Adetiloye, a former primate of the church was named after late Thomas Babington Mauculey who founded C.M.S grammer school Bariga lagos in 1859.  Located at Agunfoye -Ilegbusi village off itokin-ijebu ode road ikorodu lagos, B...

Ese Oruru: A tale of societal ills

The Ese story no doubt will forever remain one epic tale that retrospect several historical analysis of having a morally bankrupt society where everything goes irrespective of its implication to ethical values and belief. A constant reminder of a drowning society running at a colossal loss, begging to be revitalise from its present state of been chained into the cesspit of gross miscalculation and moral irresponsibility. Crimes are committed, acts are predicated on motives while actions are resultant effect from such predications which obviously arises from the thinking cap of the perpetrators of such crimes. While some actions may be positive, other crimes could as well spell doom not only to the society but also protends danger to posterity. Some may hide under the cover of religion, others may stick to instinctive reactions while some more prefers precedence. Be that as it may, whether instincts, precedence or religion, any act committed which goes contrary to commonsense sho...

Ese Oruru released finally

Ese Oruru the kidnapped teenager from Bayelsa has been released by her captors following the swift intervention of concerned Nigerians who just won't fold their arms and allow poor Ese roast In the arms of not just a total stranger, but also a paedophilia. Ese was kidnapped from her home state (Bayelsa) south south Nigeria  on the 12th August 2015 by one Yinusa who happens to be not just a tricycle rider, but also a long standing customer to the abducted girl's mum who is a food vendor at Opolo, Yenagoa local government area of Bayelsa state . Yinusa who on this day abducted young Ese while the mother was away from shop, took her immediately to kano state where he claim he would proceeds with her marital rites and onward conversion to Islam.
