FG Warns Airline Operators On fares During Sallah

The Federal government has warned airline operators to be careful in their fare during this period of sallah celebration noting that this is not a time to exploit travellers nor take undue advantage of the situation.  The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation, Mrs. Binta Bello, gave this assurance  in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday. The powerful Saudi Binladin Group has been sanctioned by Saudi Arabia's King Salman for the collapse of a construction crane at Mecca's Grand Mosque, which killed more than 100 people days before the Haj pilgrimage. An investigative committee concluded that the company "was in part responsible" for Friday's tragedy, which killed at least 107 people and injured almost 400 during a severe thunderstorm accompanied by violent winds. Investigators found that the crane was allegedly "in a wrong position" when the high winds struck, as its main arm should have been lowered, the official Saudi Press Agency said. "The position of the crane was in violation of operating instructions prepared by the manufacturer," SPA said, adding there had been no response to several letters from concerned authorities about that crane and others. Kidnapped Journalist Released

Lagos: Ace senior Nigerian journalist who was whisked away from her home and held captive by her abductors  has been released from the kidnappers den according to her Newspaper and police report on Saturday. Rescue work is continuing across northeast Japan, where at least three people have died in severe flooding and hundreds of people are stranded. The deaths were in the badly hit prefectures of Tochigi and Miyagi, both north of the capital, Tokyo. Twenty-six people are still missing, 25 of them in or around Joso city in Ibaraki, where the Kinugawa River burst its banks on Thursday. Officials have warned of further heavy rain and the risk of mudslides. The torrential rain comes in the wake of Typhoon Etau, which ploughed through Japan earlier this week. In other major developments on Friday: More than 100,000 people were ordered to evacuate their homes in Tochigi and Ibaraki. Bribed’ high court judges to cross-examine Anas

Ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, could be hauled for cross-examination if the Judicial Council grants the wish of lawyers for beleaguered judges involved in a bribery scandal.  The lawyers who are yet to watch the damning video of their clients allegedly taking bribes before administering justice said they want Anas present while they watch the film.  Joy News’ Elton Brobbey who has been monitoring development of the scandal at the corridors of the judicial system said some of the 12 high court judges involved in the act have submitted their written results.  The Judicial Council yesterday gave the beleaguered judges 24 hours to submit their written responses on the bribery allegation.  The Council is expected to meet again, study the responses and decide whether to suspend them or take any other action against them.  Already, the 22 circuit court judges and magistrates who were also captured in the video taking bribes have been suspended.
